Douglas County PUD Launches Green Hydrogen Pilot

First Emissions Free Electrolyzer in Washington
The Douglas County Public Utility District (Douglas PUD) held a ground-breaking ceremony this week to mark the start of construction of a pilot 5-MW green hydrogen production facility in the US state of Washington.
The facility is meant to provide flexibility to Douglas PUD operations at its Wells Dam hydroelectric station on the Columbia river.
The inflation reduction bill provides the basis to build a national hydrogen production ecosystem with the most benefit flowing to states like Washington that have the ability to produce large amounts of inexpensive, renewable green hydrogen.
